Task selections
A task selection is a filter for grouping tasks that meet your criteria. It works with other BOE Pro features in a proposal by filtering out irrelevant tasks first, letting you add proposal CERs, apply what-ifs, and run reports on specific tasks instead of all tasks.
Because task selections are based on values entered in one proposal's tasks, they are not available for use in other proposals.
To view a proposal's task selections, go to the Proposals page, select a proposal, then click More > Task Selection.
Selection criteria
Initially, you can only set up one criterion when you add a task selection. Once created, you can add more criteria to it. You can also test the criteria to see which tasks will be selected.
A task selection can be simple, such as WBS Equals 3.1. Or you can make it complex with more criteria, such as WBS Equals 3.1 And Description Contains Manufacturing.
Every selection criterion is comprised of a task field name, condition, and task field value. Each time you add another criterion, you must use And or Or to combine it with the others.
A crucial part of every criterion is its condition, because it determines what you can enter or select as a value. The following descriptions explain each condition available.
Condition | Description | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Standard mathematical comparisons. With these conditions, only one exact value can be selected for a criterion. |
||||||
Is any of | The criterion includes any of the selected values. This condition lets you select multiple values instead of one exact value. |
||||||
Is none of | The criterion excludes the selected values. This condition lets you select multiple values instead of one exact value. |
||||||
Contains | The criterion includes values that contain a specific string of characters (for example, MFG). Only part of a value must contain the character string to be included. | ||||||
Is like | The criterion includes values that are similar to a string of characters. This condition lets you use wildcards to represent unspecified characters (for example, M*G and M?G). This can broaden the criterion when a word might be spelled or abbreviated differently throughout your tasks. Wildcards:
