Add an ESI

  1. In the navigation menu, click Administration External System Integration.
  2. On the External System Integration page, click Add.
  3. On the Properties tab:
    1. Select a connection to your external system. If there are no connections, The ESI configuration for your BOE Pro installation is incomplete or incorrect. You can download the BOE Pro ESI Configuration Guide from the Deltek Software Manager.
    2. Enter a name for the ESI.
    3. Enter a description of the ESI. (Optional)
    4. Enter the number of days that actuals from the ESI remain valid after being added to text in a BOE section. (Optional)
    5. Click Create.
  4. On the Fields tab, click Add to create Text, List, or Date search criteria fields. You can drag existing fields to different positions to change the order in which they appear.
    • If you create a List field, click Edit Values for Selected to also create the list's values.
    • Date fields you create are just like the built-in Date field.
    • You can add instructions to fields that help users in BOE View. While adding a new actual, users can hover over in the field to view the instructions as a tooltip.
  5. Edit any fields you created or the built-in Date field to change the following options. (Optional)
    • Required: Determines whether or not users can leave the field empty.
    • Queryable: The field is used as a search criteria field, and it appears in the results. Disabling the option prevents the field from being used as a search criteria field, but it is still included in the results.
    • Display: The field is used as a search criteria field, and it appears in the results. Disabling the option excludes the field from the results, but it is still used as a search criteria field.
    • Allow multiple: Let users enter or past multiple values in a search criteria field at once instead of entering each value one by one. This option is not available for Date fields.
    • Include in skill mix table: The search criteria field is included as a column in the skill mix table that users can insert in the text of a BOE section.
  6. On the Formatting tab, use the text editor to enter and format information about the fields and their data. When someone inserts a table of the actuals into a BOE section, your formatted text is also included.
    • You can reference a field in the text editor by typing the @ character followed by the field name. In the text of a BOE section, the field value replaces the referenced field.
    • You can select Suppress Blank Fields to hide empty fields in BOE text. This can eliminate clutter in the text when a field has no results.
  7. Click Close.
