Proposal settings: BOE Sections

The BOE Sections tab is for setting up a uniform structure and format for any BOE in your proposal. You can add sections from the global BOE Section Library, and you can create proposal-specific sections. Once your proposal has the necessary sections, you can set up Smart Sections for faster and easier BOE input.

By default, BOE sections in a proposal are printable. Printable sections appear in reports and are included in the submittal process. Non-printable sections are informational sections that can help you and your team organize the BOE. For example, if BOE authors need a place to indicate which estimating group they belong to, you could create a non-printable section for that.

With a proposal open in BOE View, you can add a BOE to PBS elements and tasks by filling out the printable sections.

There are two types of BOE sections:

• Text: The section has a text editor with many standard functions found in a modern word processor. You can enter and format text, and attach files.
• List: The section has a list of values that are selected from a drop-down menu. After adding a list section, you should immediately create its value list.

Each BOE section, regardless of type, has default font settings, as well as Instructions, Header, Default Value, and Footer areas.

Default Font and Default Font Size override the proposal-level font settings and system-level font settings. The default font settings apply to the Instructions, Header, Default Value, and Footer text entered in a section. If you lock a proposal's font settings on the Estimates tab, the default font settings for sections are disabled.

The Instructions area is useful if you need to explain how to complete a BOE to your team. In BOE View, people can read your instructions by hovering their cursor over this icon next to a section's name. Since your instructions are not part of the BOE narrative, they are not included in a BOE when a proposal is submitted to ProPricer Contractor Edition.

The Default Value area is like the body of a document. If the BOE section is a list, the Default Value area will be a drop-down menu instead of a text editor.
