Create a BOE from the library

  1. In the navigation menu, click Proposals.
  2. Select a proposal to create the BOE in, then click More BOE View.
  3. In BOE View, select a PBS element or task that has no BOE.
  4. Click Create from library.
  5. Select a BOE that is saved in the library.
    • BOEs can be at the PBS or task level. If your new BOE and the saved BOE are at different levels, only the saved BOE sections and formulas are recreated. See the rules for reusing a BOE to learn more.
  6. Click Create. When the process finishes, a report shows the results.

Rules for reusing a BOE

There are rules that may prevent you from reusing a BOE. Depending on the differences between the target and source proposals, a BOE could be partially or completely incompatible with the target.

After attempting to create a BOE from the library, any of the following messages may appear to explain what happened:

Message Description
BOE completely created. The BOE was recreated with all of the same data.
BOE partially created. The BOE was recreated, but some of its data could not be used.
BOE parent type does not match. BOE created with sections and formulas only. The new BOE and the saved BOE are at different levels in the proposal. One is at the PBS level, while the other is at the task level. As a result, the BOE was partially recreated to only include its BOE sections and formulas.
Proposal timescale does not match. BOE created with sections and formulas only. The source proposal of the saved BOE and the target proposal for the new BOE have different timescales. As a result, the BOE was partially recreated to only include its BOE sections and formulas.
Created An item in the BOE, such as a task or a resource estimate, was recreated without any issues.
Created with Warnings An item in the BOE was recreated, but there was an issue. For example, a task could be created, but there are warnings because custom task fields it used are not found in the target proposal.
Not Created An item in the BOE, such as a task or a resource estimate, was not recreated.
Not Found An item in the BOE, such as a travel destination, was not found in the target proposal.
Could not resolve parent entity containing this item. An item in the BOE was not recreated because there is an issue with the parent entity that contains it. For example, a travel estimate may be skipped because the trip that contains it could not be recreated.
List value was not found in target proposal. A list value in the BOE, such as a custom resource field value or a BOE section list value, was not found in the target proposal.
Library item was not found in target proposal. An item from a global library in the BOE, such as a resource, was not found in the target proposal.
Resource and resource code are both missing in target proposal. An estimate in the BOE has neither a resource or resource code value assigned to it.
Resource codes are not enabled in target proposal. The BOE uses resource code mappings, but the feature is not enabled in the settings of the target proposal.
